1.THE COFFIN THIEVES
The wonders of this world will never cease. I have been
astounded and as well as amused by a stunning occurrence which took place just recently, in my country. The incident left many of my country men wondering. The
unbelievable atrocity took place in one of our cities. The local newspapers featured the story as the main news headline. The other social media channels also treated the story with a rare and special urgency. Small groupings of
the general public were seen everywhere portraying dismal
countenance as they discussed that latest occurrence in
low tones.
2. A RISKY ASSIGNMENT
2The wickedness was committed by a notorious gangster who had earned himself a reputation as an expert, in exhuming the corpses of the people who died and had been
buried in the city cemetery, especially the prominent
dignitaries. The man was definitely a daring coffin thief. He had also hired a workforce of energetic young men, who would accompany him and they would walk stealthily and gingerly, during the late hours of the night. Of course, the
man and his accomplices knew that it was a risky assignment, which could make them brush their shoulders with the rough side of the law. Nevertheless, the gangsters cared less. They had to survive, anyway. They had to get
their daily bread by all means.
They had to eat and let others eat. Once the coffin was pulled out of the grave, the lead gangster would instruct his accomplices to open the expensive coffin. He would
instruct them to remove and throw the rotting corpse into the grave again, and cover it with soil. They would then take the coffin to a secret place, until daybreak. In the
course of time, he would get a willing buyer, who would purchase the second hand coffin.
3.THE TRAFFIC POLICE
On one particular occasion during the early hours of the day, in the past few weeks, the gang ringleader hired a van to transport an expensive coffin which he had stolen. He was intending to transport it to a willing buyer, at a far distance. He sat comfortably in the van. His accomplices had also accompanied him on the journey. As they travelled, all of a sudden in the twinkling of an eye, they saw the traffic police who had barricaded the road at a distance, ahead of them.
4.THE GANGSTERS  SENSED AN IMPENDING  DANGER.
They had to think and act swiftly before they found themselves colliding with the law. The principal coffin thief decided to sleep in the coffin, pretending to be a dead person. His accomplices covered the coffin immediately and they pretended to be mourning for their departed relative. The traffic police
stopped the van, in order to inspect it. They were suspicious. They inspected everything inside the van, but they were not at ease, with the corpse inside the coffin. The coffin thief was sweating profusely, inside the enclosed coffin. He was also suffocating because the air inside the coffin was getting depleted.
5. IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE
In the twinkling of an eye, as the traffic police attempted to open and see the content of the coffin, the coffin thief yelled, as he jumped out of the coffin. Real drama ensued. The traffic police officers also yelled, as they fled in fright
for their lives, because a corpse had resurrected! The coffin thief jumped out of the van. He was afraid of the cops. He ran away in his own direction, to avoid being arrested. His accomplices also ran away in their own direction, to
avoid being arrested. The van driver ran away, to avoid being arrested and be prosecuted for a deliberate
conspiracy. Finally, the empty coffin was left in the van, without any caretaker.
6.THE SUBSEQUENT ARRESTS
After a few minutes, the fracas was over. The traffic police officers regained their consciousness and woke up to the reality that they were on the crime scene, and they were not dreaming. The police officers used the police vehicle
and towed the deserted van to the police station. Eventually, the owner of the van was tracked down and arrested after the police officers mounted an intensive
search in the city. In the long run, the principal coffin thief and all his
accomplices were arrested. The ringleader narrated to the police all that he had done with his friends for a long time and how they had managed to dodge the police traps, until the day they could no longer outwit the law enforcers. The way I see it is that people have to work in order to earn a living. Life can only have meaning when people devote themselves in worthwhile tasks in order to make the ends meet. However, some people choose to engage themselves in jobs which are crime oriented. The jobs may
appear to be bringing in immediate and lucrative returns.
7. BAD REPUTATION
However, as a matter of fact, such jobs which involve crime in most cases bring regrets, shame and bad
reputation to the public. God requires that we devote ourselves to good works in order to fulfill our daily basic needs. Greed and the unquenchable quest among some
people who want to become millionaires overnight have landed them in real trouble, by gambling with their lives and the laws of their land. Even when such people become rich wherever they are, they may portray the facial
expression that they are happy but in the real sense, they are deeply guilty in their hearts.
8.THE END RESULTS
Any form of wealth in this world which is accumulated through shrewd means will eventually lead its owners to ultimate loss and shame. Whether people are using illegal physical means or white color crime to acquire opulence, the end results are just the same. Such people eventually bring untold suffering to themselves and their close family members. In all your daily endeavors, ensure that your end is justified by the means. Do not let your means justify your end.

BE VIGILANT(PART ONE):
As long as you live in this present age, you will find yourself interacting, socializing and dealing with people of different calibre. You will have certain achievements in life which other people have not attained. That doesn't make you better than them. Other people will have certain achievements and excellence which you do not have. That doesn't make them better than you are. If you want your achievements to have a good taste and capture your audience positively, do not talk about them verbally to your listeners. Appoint someone to talk or read about you. When you start talking about yourself, people perceive you as an egoist. An egoist is a person who likes talking too much about himself or herself. When this becomes the case, your listeners form a negative attitude towards you. They perceive you as a person who is above them. They feel intimidated or belittled. Human beings don't like being belittled. If you are in the front line of dominating and telling people how much you have excelled, the chances are that such people will start drifting away from you gradually. They look at you as a rare and untouchable hero. Under normal circumstances, people detest being pushed back or made to feel that they are behind or they are far away from the finishing line. Any time you see people avoiding you or resisting you even though you are an achiever, could it be that you have become a tyrant to them? Could it be that you have a domineering behaviour? Could it be that you talk too much about your achievements making them feel they are useless or they have a long way to go before they reach your standard? Be vigilant so that you don't lose your friends because of your achievements and excellence. Do not make them regard you as a proud person. Be wise and humble.
HOW TO RELATE WITH YOUR PASTORS/CHURCH LEADERS:
1. Church leaders are called and raised by God.
2. Many churches fail to prosper because of lack of unity either within or without.
3. It is important to respect church leaders who are in your church and also those who are in other churches.
4. Whereas it is Godly and healthy to esteem and respect your church leaders where you attend services, avoid being ensnared by the trap of believing that it is only your pastor who has been called by God.
5. God has called many Pastors/Bishops/Deacons/Elders and many other church leaders who cannot fit or operate in one particular church or denomination.
6. Avoid the tendency of thinking that your church is the best or the only place where people should come to worship.
7. Church leaders are anointed ones of God and they should not be touched or done any harm( Luke 4:18,19; John 3:18).
8. It is dangerous for anybody to conspire against an anointed one(pastor/church leader)of God.
9. Respect your superior(s)(pastors) and you will be blessed.
10. When God calls somebody, his call is not challengeable, neither is it questionable.
11. Pastors can bless or curse, so be careful when dealing with them.
12. If you detect any shortcomings in your pastor or any other church leader, pray for them.
13. When God places you somewhere under any church leader, he expects you to remain there for His service.
14. Don't despise God's servants at all!
15. A pastor's/church leader's physical needs like; feeding, clothing and accomodation should be taken care of by the church members so that the church may prosper.
THE RISE AND FALL OF KING UZZIAH(2 Chronicles 26:1-21):
THE RISE:
1. He sought God during the days of prophet Zechariah who instructed him in the fear of God.
2. He defeated his enemies at war.
3. He built towers in Jerusalem.
4. He dug cisterns/ wells for watering his livestock.
5. He had a strong army - of 307,500 men.
6. He loved farming - he planted vineyards.
7. He had labourers.
8. He had wonderful weapons, designed and made by skillful men.
9. He became famous and powerful.
HIS FALL/FAILURE:
10. He failed to remove many of the symbols of idolatry.
11. He became proud because of his power.
12. He became unfaithful to God because of his achievement.
13. He entered the temple of God to burn incense on the altar. This was a task which was supposed to be done by priests only.
14. He was not thankful to God.
KNOW THE THREE SEASONS OF GOD IN YOUR LIFETIME(ACTS 7:20,23,30,36):
BIRTH/INFANCY SEASON(ACTS 7:20 -22) - This is a time when you are being nursed in the hands of your parent(s) or guardians. You are not aware of what is happening around. You are quite naive and fully depended on your caretakers. You have no responsibilities to worry about. You are undergoing physical and mental development. This is the most enjoyable season in your lifetime because you have nothing to bother you and worry about.
2. TRAINING SEASON(ACTS 7:30-34): - You are now a grown up person. You cannot continue depending on the people who brought you up. You have to learn how to be independent. You are now alone in the wilderness/desert of Midian. God is training you the hard way. God does not train his servants in High Schools. He trains them in Low Schools. You are absorbing the shocks of loneliness and rejection. You are frustrated.
3. SERVICE/BATTLES SEASON(ACTS 7:34-36):- You are now where the real heat is. You have been trained fully by God in the Low School, the desert of Midian. Be ready to encounter raging storms, real opposition, confrontation, pain, persecution and victory as well. You are now in the battle ground. Pharaoh is ready to oppose and resist you under all costs. As you tell him that the LORD says, Let my people go, he doesn't know what you are talking about. Goliath is also waiting for you so that he can kill you and give your flesh to the birds of the air. King Saul is also waiting for you, to pierce you with his spear as you play the harp for him.

THE LORD'S ROD UPON THE EDOMITES:
THE BOOK OF OBADIAH 1-15.
Obadiah means "worshipper of Jehovah." There are only 21 verses in the book of Obadiah. The land of Edom is doomed. Edomites were
descendants of Esau, the brother of Jacob. Though the Edomites were
related (cousins) to Judah and Israel, they sided with their enemies. People of Edom watched strangers carry away the people of Jerusalem as captives and they were happy. They stood at the crossroads to prevent them from escaping and stole their goods when they were in trouble. The purpose of the book of Obadiah in the bible is to show that God judges those who harm his people.
The author of the book was Obadiah.Very little is known about him. However, he was among the Minor Prophets that God used. Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament. The original audience which this book addresses is the Edomites and the Jews in Judah (the southern kingdom). The Key verse in this book is verse -15 - As you have done, it will be done to you; your evil deeds will return upon your own head.
THIRTEEN FACTS ABOUT THE EDOMITES:
1. They were a fierce nation
2. They were proud warriors
3. They built their homes on rocks
4. They felt secure and free from external attacks
5. They were self sufficient. They didn't need any help from other
nations!
6. They were a wealthy nation
7. They were proud and boastful
8. They were quite treacherous
9. They were betrayers
10. They enjoyed plundering other nations
11. They were merciless murderers
12. They were overconfident
13. They were wise people
God has children (the saved people). He has men and women who He has chosen as his very own. Edom was a mountainous nation. They were fierce and proud warriors. Their homes were built on rocks. This made them become proud and self confident. A humble person is more secure than a proud person. They felt secure in their city curved right into the rock. Edom was noted for its wise people. However, there is a difference between human wisdom and God's wisdom. Of all the people, they should have been ready to help their brothers/cousins (Judah) who lived in the north. Instead of helping Israel and Judah when they were in need, Edom had allowed them to be destroyed and even had plundered what was left behind. Edom therefore, acted like an enemy and would be punished.
Instead, they took the advantage of Judah's suffering. They waylaid the fugitives at the crossroads, captured them and eventually delivered them to the enemy. They even plundered their blood relatives. Edom had rejoiced over the misfortunes of both Israel
and Judah, and yet the Edomites and the Jews descended from two
brothers - Esau and Jacob (Genesis 25:19-26). Any person who does not help God's people is God's enemy. But just as these two brothers were constantly fighting, so were Israel and Edom. Edom was Judah's southern neighbor, sharing a common boundary. But neighbors are not always friends, and Edom did not like anything about Judah. Edom was happy to see Judah in trouble. Their hatred made them want the nation destroyed. Due to their wrong attitudes and actions, God wiped out Edom. The people of Edom betrayed their blood brothers in times of crisis and assisted their brothers' enemies. Today, Edom is nowhere to be found. God destroyed it forever (verse 10), but Judah still exists. Those who are high and powerful today should not be overconfident in themselves, whether they are a nation, a corporation, a church or a family. Just as Edom was destroyed for its pride, so will anyone who lives in defiance of God. Sin includes not only what we do, but what we refuse to do. We must never be happy about others' misfortunes, even if we think they deserve them (Proverbs 24:17). We should not use our physical strength, education, wisdom, wealth, intelligence or our financial power to oppress other people by either exploiting or plundering them. Closing Prayer. Father in the name of Jesus Christ, help us to desist the abuse, or misuse of any physical, spiritual or intellectual endowment. Help me so that I do not rejoice when my brother is experiencing a crisis, but instead stand with him.
