THE DEPARTED TEACHER
My heart is now full of anguish,
when I recall the untimely death,
of our learned teacher,
Mr. Joseph Mimosa.
Please call our village drummer,
and let him hit the drum persistently, to draw the attention of the village folk.
It is now still very early in the morning. Let everybody in the whole village, hear the drumbeat.
Let everybody in our village be alerted now. We have been befallen by a serious misfortune.
Mr. Joseph Mimosa our learned teacher has passed on.
Oh Mr. Joseph Mimosa,
our departed teacher and friend,
we shall miss you dearly. Many of us in this village, are beneficiaries of your great learning.
My heart is groaning, because of the loss of a learned and famous teacher, Mr. Joseph Mimosa.
Please hit the drum hard.
Let the villagers assemble here, to mourn and pay their last respect,
to Mr. Joseph Mimosa. Let the elite of our village assemble and do something.
Come and let us discuss together,
and accord our learned friend,
a grand send off. Oh, Mr. Joseph Mimosa, we shall truly miss your presence and services. Our village has lost a very prominent academician.
My heart is troubled greatly. The village drummer seems to be taking too long, to relay the herald,
that Mr. Joseph Mimosa has departed.
Kawili! Kawili! Run very fast towards the village drummer, and tell him to beat the drum, several times. Our people need to know, that we are now going through a trying moment, because Mr. Joseph Mimosa, our village teacher is departed.
THE GRAND FAREWELL
Kawiisya! Kawiisya!
Please hurry up and come over here. Do not delay. Make efforts of coming without any further hesitation. Kawiisya! Kawiisya!
Please come hurriedly. Your grandmother Mwikali is calling you.
She says that she has something to tell you now. Please do not delay.
Your grandmother wants to bless you. She wants to bid you farewell.
Kawiisya! Kawiisya!
Please come running. Your grandmother is uttering
Some inaudible words,
but she is repeatedly mentioning your name.
Kawiisya! Kawiisya!
Where are you now? Please do not waste any more time. We are worried. Your grandmother is gesticulating, and mentioning your name. She wants to bless you, and bid you a grand farewell.
MY FATHER
My father is a man of cool temperament and he has been blessed with multiple talents.
Surely, the living God has blessed my father with special talents.
Many people in our village do not have such gifts except my father.
My father is a real genius. His school and college contemporaries envied him, because of his rare and special talents.
My father is a renowned poet. He has written many poems. Some of his poems have been read far and wide.
Many schools, many colleges,
many universities, and many libraries have adopted my father’s written works, to be used in their poetry studies.
My father is also a fiction writer. He is exceptionally talented in writing thrilling novels. He has won many national and international awards, for his great works of poetry and literature.
My father is a soft spoken genius.
He is a man of few words. Any time he writes and publishes a new book, his fans celebrate and flock the book stores, of all the traditional and electronic book publishers.
Many of his book reviewers, have affirmed that his works are quite excellent, and there was need to give credit, where and when it is due. My father’s creative work has inspired many upcoming young writers.
He has become a role model, to other talented writers of our times.
My father’s creative works, have embraced the literary scene forcefully. He has sold thousands of books. He has joined the ranks of bestsellers, so many times.
My father has mentored many other talented writers. His works have specifically inspired me. I nurture the unquenchable desire,
to be a prolific writer like him.
MY PEOPLE
My people do not know how to dance to the tune of the modern strange music.
They are only familiar with the beat and the tunes of the old fashioned style of dancing. My people do not understand the language of foreigners. They are not familiar with the foreigners’ language dialect.
My people are quite conservative.
They detest new ideas. They embrace any recent innovation with a lot of suspicion. They get bored easily, when you attempt to introduce them to modern technology.
Is there anybody, who is bold and daring enough, to scoop them,
from the miry domain of ignorance? My people lack exposure and experience. It is not an easy task whatsoever, to convince them to arise and seize new discoveries.
They lack enthusiasm. I concur with the saying that, you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Every day in the evening, they lurk at the market, and the shopping centers, in small clusters. They spend most of their time, reliving the past. My people have a good track record, of doubting and dismissing bright and beneficial ideas.
If only we can get someone who can open their eyes and their minds, we can enjoy a new era of good tidings. Imagine, my people are captives of heresy and mere fabrications.
They are prisoners of ignorance. They give you the impression that,
they are well informed and knowledgeable, but on the contrary,
they know very little.
IF I WERE..…
If I were a pastor, I would preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, vehemently. I would teach the word of God with considerable zeal. I would shepherd the flock of Jesus Christ faithfully.
If I were a teacher, I would teach my students diligently. I would prepare them adequately,
to enable them pass their exams well. I would instill proper discipline in their lives.
If I were a doctor, I would devote myself fully, in terms of diagnosing and treating the diseases of my patients.
If I were a pyrotechnist, I would display my fireworks in a very unique way, during public gatherings and celebrations.
If I were an architect, I would design magnificent buildings, which would impress quite a good number of town dwellers.
If I were a mason, I would use the best quality of quarry stone,
to build many skyscrapers in our city.
If I were a farmer, I would toil on my land in good time and diligently.
I would then sow the best quality seed, to realize a bumper harvest.
If I were a driver, I would drive carefully, to avoid causing road accidents. I would try as much as possible, to respect all other road users. I would avoid all manner of reckless driving.
If I were a poet, I would write many good and interesting poems, which would be read within and without,
to influence and touch the lives of many readers.
