THE MAD GENERATION
This generation, is really mad.
The young people, are busy destroying themselves, with deadly drugs. I say, this generation is mad.
In the clamor for recognition
and acceptance, the young people have portrayed extreme madness. When you look at the way they dress, in their unquenchable desire for fashion, it is really quite disgusting.
When you look at their walking styles, you will be perplexed. The boys walk with their long trousers sagging. The girls walk with a lot of pride, like a peacock. Surely, this is a generation of lost young people.
Who can redeem these young people from their extreme
waywardness?
It is disgusting and disheartening.
It is quite unbearable to hear and see the things, that our youths say and do. This is surely a mad generation. Everybody seems to be mad.
Even life itself seems to be mad.
Everything is chaotic. There is a lot of madness in our society. There is real madness, in the way the government of the day is run.
The government officials, are not sure of what should be done.
Nobody is sure of what they are doing. Productivity and accountability, are virtues which only exist in imagination, but not in reality.
There is a lot of noise and shouting,
and nobody seems to be ready to listen to any other. There is a lot of finger pointing, and relentless accusations and counter accusations. Nobody is ready to listen to sound admonishment.
People everywhere are shouting at the top of their voices.
They want to be listened to, but nobody is willing to listen. There is madness everywhere.
There is madness in our cities.
There is madness in our churches.
There is madness in our public health institutions.
There is madness in our political arena.
The atmosphere is positively charged, with a lot of irritating noise of mad people. There is a lot of suspicion and uncertainty.
The blame game is rife.
MY LOVER, GRACE
My lover Grace, remember how I sincerely love you, with all my heart. When I came to your home
three weeks ago, your family fierce dog was just about to bite me. I ran for my life, but unfortunately I stumbled and fell down.
I was pierced by a thorn, on the left heel of my leg. My heel was seriously injured. Thick blood oozed from my injured heel.
My lover Grace, I got hurt in the pursuit of my sincere love, that I nurture for you.
You mean a lot to me. Even though there are inevitable stumbling blocks, I will not be discouraged or scared by anything. My heart is genuinely full of lively anticipation. My lover Grace, I am looking forward to that day, when we shall go to the church and tie the knot,
as husband and wife.
I AM TIRED AND FED UP
I am tired and fed up,
because of seeing our young boys,
being destroyed by the illicit brew,
which they are fond of taking
on daily basis.
Our nation is lamenting, because our young boys are dying very fast,
because of taking the deadly brew.
Some of the young girls are no exception, in this futile drinking spree.
Thank God, the head of state has issued a timely and outright decree,
to all government organs, to wipe out this malpractice completely, once and for all.
Many families in our esteemed nation, have been destroyed,
by the irresponsible drunkenness.
Wives have been deserted and neglected, by their husbands,
because of the effect of the illicit brew.
School children have been sent home, because their fathers have indulged themselves, into drinking the lethal brew, and failing to pay school fees for their children.

THE INTERVIEW
Welcome to our studio this afternoon, our chief guest, Honorable Sylvester Wamugunda.
Thank you very much sir, for granting me this opportunity. I feel quite privileged. Alright, may we first start by knowing your full profile?
I was born in a remote village, in our country. My parents were poor. My education was threatened so many times by ardent poverty. Many a time, my teachers sent me home, to get my school fees, but I would stay at home for many weeks, as my parents struggled to get my school fees. I started my education life at Wakwitu primary school. I joined class one at the age of eight years. I went through the eight years full course. After the completion of my primary school,
I emerged as the best candidate of the year, because I got the best grade. I proceeded to high school,
which was far away from my home district. Life at school was quite challenging. During those days,
students in senior classes,
had a bad habit of bullying their juniors.
I was bullied mercilessly. I didn’t know anybody at the school, who could protect me from that unpleasant treatment. It was a nasty experience. It was inhuman. It was demoralizing. It was traumatizing. Anyway, that was life,
And if it was not life, it was part of life.
Okay thank you Mr. Sylvester Wamuguda. Sorry, thank you Honorable Sylvester Wamuguda.
Please you will excuse me because of the slip of my tongue by addressing you as Mr.
There is no problem sir. Just take it easy. You are at liberty to address me in any way. I don’t feel offended when you address me as Mr.
Thank you. Can you now tell us about your life generally in the Universities you attended?
Quite fine. In short, I did my first degree in Roibina University. Life there was not smooth either.
We had a lot of academic work to do. One striking experience I can recall is that many of our lecturers were friendly but they assumed too much. I mean, they assumed that we already had fore-knowledge of whatever they taught us.
As a result, they became casual during the lecture sessions. Generally, I and as well as my
colleagues, did not like the Continuous Assessment Tests they gave us after the completion of the units they taught us. The marks we scored in our tests would of course be recorded by the lecturers to
determine the grades which would be used finally to determine our degree classes.
Ok, thank you Honorable Wamuguda. If I may ask, how did you get the finances for pursuing your first degree course?
Well, this is another experience which brings bitter memories in my life. As I told you earlier, my parents were poor. They couldn’t afford to pay for my education. However, a close neighbor was touched and he volunteered himself to pay for my first degree. That was great and a real miracle.
Ok, now in a nutshell, what can you say about your life in politics?
Definitely, as they say, politics is a dirty game. I would advise those who are aspiring to venture into politics in the future, to think twice about it. This is a game which means more than meets the eye. The chances of realizing one’s dreams and making it in life through politics are minimal.
It is important for any aspirant to note that the political ladder is always crowded and slippery.
Of course, one should count the inevitable cost of intrigue from his fellow political rivals. Again, if you are a politician, you should be ready to withstand the pressure of serving your electorate and as well as serving and pleasing the government of the day. To some extent, you are handcuffed because you cannot make any independent decisions without consulting your seniors, lest you will be accused of usurpation.
Okay, thanks a lot our guest, Honorable Sylvester Wamugunda, for paying us a courtesy call in our studio. Now that our time is up, I am sorry we cannot continue with this program. We shall invite you again to come for the continuation of this interview, one of these days.
Thank you sir, we shall meet next time.
