A LIFE OF DEPENDENCE
Apparently, there is a very common tendency of dependence universally. Husbands have to depend on their wives for one need or another. Wives have to depend on their husbands for daily household provisions. Children have to depend on their parents for feeding, clothing, security and education. Parents have to depend on their children for the fulfillment of their basic needs when the parents become advanced in age. School teachers have to depend on their national governments teachers employment agencies, for payment of their salaries. The National and County government officials have to depend on the common man's hard earned money tax which should be converted after every thirty days of the month, to become the employees' salaries. Students have to depend on their teachers and lecturers for lessons and lectures. Pastors have to depend on congregations for tithes and offerings for their upkeep. Church congregations depend on their pastors for spiritual nourishment, prayers and guidance in the issues pertaining to their lives. Politicians must depend on the electorate for votes which will enable them to qualify as elected members of the National Assembly. The electorate has to depend on the elected members of parliament to be their spokesmen and spokeswomen formulators of the laws which are supposed to govern everybody in the nation. Businessmen and women depend on customers to buy their goods and services. Customers have no other options unless they depend on business people for the supply of all essential economic commodities. By all means, dependence in one way or another in this tedious life is inevitable.
LIFE'S DECEPTION
I am a man who has been deceived terribly by life. I am a man who
gropes for his way out even in broad daylight, in this deceptive quagmire of life. I am a man whose dreams in life have been completely shattered. All my childhood expectations and dreams have been nipped and
slashed by inevitable and unexplainable forces of life.
I do not know which way to go. I have lost my sense of judgment. I
cannot predict the issues of my future. My destiny only appears to me in a blurred picture of evident disillusionment. I am scared of the grotesque pictures of this miserable life. I am tired of listening to the perplexing
and strange voices of life. If achievement and prosperity are anything to go by, can anyone explain to me what they mean and their ultimate purpose? So many times, my friends and foes have regarded me as a lunatic and a socially maladjusted fellow. I don't care very much about their views and thoughts about me. I am not responsible for the way they perceive me. Whether they see
lunacy or abnormality in my life, I don't care and I don't give a damn. I
have nothing to gain and better still, I have nothing to lose. If you have
nothing in this unpredictable and demoralizing life, why should you fear losing? If you own nothing, you have nothing to lose. If you have nothing to hope for, you have nothing to disappoint you. If you have no aspirations in life, you have no reason to regret because you still continue living in the conventional mood of life's simplicity. Quite explicitly, there are people who are busy hurting and destroying themselves in this life because of their quest for a better place in the social status and the clamor for recognition. Such people want to grow taller
than their normal heights. They want to speak louder than the ability of their normal voices.
They want to take a giant leap than they can practically manage and
therefore in the course of time and in the long run, they have nothing to
show or boast of. Instead, they only succeed in becoming disillusioned
and frustrated.
WHERE ARE THEY?
Where is the man who used to live in this city who was dreaded by the
inhabitants because of his bragging about his standard of rare and incomparable achievement? By all means, nobody can trace his
imminent departure and silence from this scene of life. Where is the woman who hooked and destroyed other women's husbands and made their families completely destitute? Where are the young girls who used to maraud around here, moving to and fro, lurking like hawks? Is there any tangible evidence or a landmark of their existence and performance? Where are the traffic police officers who used to stop motor-vehicles at this point and instead of being faithful and stick to the professional ethics of their work by inspecting the vehicles to detect whether the vehicles had traffic offenses, they seized the opportunity to enrich themselves by extorting big bribes from the vehicle owners? Where are the politicians who used to wield a lot of political power upon themselves  and won the admiration of their electorate? Where are they now They used to threaten and intimidate other upcoming politicians. They would even hire thugs to attack their political rivals and as well as their stout supporters. Where is the kingpin of this village whose voice thundered heavily in the ears of his listeners during the meetings which were convened to deliberate upon important issues affecting the welfare of the village? Where are the men who were once given jobs by the government of the day as  administration chiefs? These men became greedy and started mismanaging and misdirecting the
relief food which was meant for the needy people. One day, the officers
ended up in the wrong footing with their employer when they stole relief food but unfortunately they were caught pants down, committing the crime. They were finally convicted and charged in a  law court with the crime of stealing public property. Consequently, the men in question lost their jobs and other negative consequences befell them. They also lost the respect and the confidence the people they had been serving had for them. Definitely, nobody can claim to be a hero or a master of circumstances in this world. I have seen men and women who were once famous and highly regarded in the public limelight come down tumbling from their lofty places of prominence in the twinkling of an eye. This world is full of drama and immeasurable scope of wonders. Every individual has his or her own hour of trial and adversity. Believe me, whether you like it or not, all of us have a sad story to tell about our lives at one given time or another. It doesn't matter where you were born.
It doesn't matter whether your parents were rich or poor. It doesn't matter whether your parents had a good or strained relationship.
IT DOESN'T MATTER
It doesn't matter whether you went to school or not. It doesn't matter
whether you are famous or infamous. It doesn't matter whether you are wise or foolish. It doesn't matter whether people respect you or despise you. It doesn't matter whether people love you or hate you. All in all, the fact remains that each one of us has his own share of turbulent times. When I look at the way people of this world treat their fellow countrymen, especially those who are better placed in terms of the acquisition of the material things of this world is concerned, I become very much disturbed. The urge of becoming the spokesman of the oppressed and those who cannot speak for themselves grips me firmly. You ruthless employers, stop mistreating your helpless employees. Stop exploiting them. Stop threatening your employees by telling them that you will suck them if they don't perform to the expected standards of your giant firms. Behold the way your loyal employees have served you so diligently and faithfully but yet you have paid them peanuts. They have families to sustain in terms of feeding, clothing and other essential needs of life. Your lamenting employees have lived in the confines of hand to mouth earnings. Why do you lord it over your subordinates? What makes you believe that you are so special and exceptional as far as the issues of this life are concerned? Why do you think that by the virtue of being in the cream of the society, you are untouchable and distinguished? Woe to you who live luxurious lives at the expense of other people's plight. Woe to you when you regard yourself as a special individual as you climb the ladder of prosperity. Although you are proud of being up there in that prestigious position, do not deceive yourself. You can be sure of one thing. That is, one of these fine days you will still come down from your lofty position. The top levels in life do not offer any permanent  security.

ACHIEVERS AND OVERCOMERS
When situations become demoralizing and unpredictable, we feel downtrodden and defeated. We may nurture inevitable feelings of evident uncertainty and low esteem. It is normal to experience these feelings. No one likes defeat. No one likes to be a failure or even associated with failure. All of us, during the few days which God has given us to live down here on this earth, we want to be achievers and overcomers in every aspect and area of our operations.Sometimes we may find ourselves just groping at the sidelines of uncertainty and inability in achieving our set goals. We may struggle relentlessly to ensure that the desires of our hearts are met, but sometimes we lose the grip. Making our ends meet and striving to ensure that our means justfy the ends may eventually leave us in circumstances which are unpalatable. We want people to know or hear that we have undertaken certain tasks in the areas of our calling or expertise in life. We want them to realize that at least we have done something noticeable and we need to be applauded. We want them to place us in the cadres of the achievers and overcomers in the society, at large. We want to be recognized and stand up to be counted in any public assembly. We are yearning to secure a good position in the public accolade and to be regarded as people who have made it, through thick and thin in ascending the ladder of success and achievement. However, when our anticipated achievements don't seem to be forthcoming according to our timing and expectations, we should sit back and pause for a while. We don't have to drive ourselves so hard. It doesn't mean that we have failed or missed the mark. Sometimes God can teach us through failure or defeat, in order to make us real achievers and overcomers. In most cases, God does not teach us his lessons of being achievers in the High Schools of Achievement, but in the Low Schools of Failure.
