The Nine Types (Classes) of People in a Gathering
1. The Eager Beaver-
He or she is an individual who is
always enthusiastic and seemingly active in an audience. He is
an individual who has many good ideas which can help other
people in a group or audience, if the ideas are adopted.
However, he is more theoretical than practical. When other
people are ready to implement his ideas, for instance, coming
early to church for prayers, he comes late!
2. The Talker-.
He or she likes sitting at the back seat in a
gathering. He does not want to be heard or seen. He likes
murmuring, when the speaker is still addressing the gathering.
He is never bold enough to speak out his mind. He normally
asks his seat-mate to ask questions or speak out on his behalf.
3. The Distracter-
He or she likes drawing the attention of
the listeners unnecessarily by either sneezing or dragging his
chair. His main aim is to annoy or irritate the listeners and divert
their attention from what the speaker is saying. In most cases, he is a rude person. He does not respect the audience and the
speaker.
4. The Superior Being-
He or she is a person who purports
to know everything. He is a 'know-all' individual. He likes
dominating the audience or gathering and he is fond of using 'I'
in his speech or opinions.
He believes that his opinions or ideas are better than the
ones of his friends. Even when it is apparent that he is losing,
and that nobody is ready to accept or adopt his ideas, he remains
firm and unchanged in his views.
5. The Attention Seeker-
He is a clown or joker. His main
assignment is to amuse the audience by either, making funny
noises, yawning audibly, or whistling softly. He is a good person who breaks the chain of monotony in the meeting.
6. The Hair Splitter-
He is an individual who is not easy to convince or deal with. He likes betting over minor or petty
issues. Usually, people keep off from him because of his
rigidity.
7. The Sympathy seeker-
He or she is always seeking
sympathy from the group members. He likes lamenting about
how things have not gone well on his side. He receives every
proposal made with a lot of pessimism and negativity. He feels
comforted when people show signs of sympathizing or assisting
him where necessary.
8. The Silent Member-
This is a person whose verbal
contribution is minimal. He is a person of few words. He likes to
remain quiet at all times when other people are expressing
themselves or giving their ideas.
9. The Fence Sitter-
He or she is a person who is always quiet. It is not easy to work or deal with him. He does not express his views but he is always ready to support practically what other people have decided to do.
